Retail Sector
Three different programmes funded by the London Borough of Islington and the London Councils (formerly the Association of London Governments) focus on retail trading areas, and the adjacent communities. The projects are helping retail traders associations become more effective and to enable them to develop events and services that will make the area more attractive to shoppers.
It will enable traders to share marketing and other activities that will brand the area. For traders on the Caledonian Road, there are also small grants available for physical improvements to shops.
These projects facilitate an overall scheme, promoting internships and training for the community, relevant to the needs of local businesses. From assessing research, our project believes training in business skills, media skills, early year childcare courses and food hygiene, complement the needs of local businesses.
The scheme would be community-led and piloted in Caledonian Road area – leading to an annual festival and other schemes. Further news on the progress of this project will be posted on this site.
